"Word Salad" is a great way to tag Mr. Heinz below. Thank you Charlie Eaton for shedding a light on what can be done about a very big problem. You do a service for all. Your insightful article on how to effectively resist an increasingly lawless person in the White House with a goal of control and domination, like his strangely bestie putin. The one unanswered question I have, and may never find the answer to is: What does putin have on trump which enables him to control, he who defies control and accountability? I have a good idea of what that might be.
I think many of us has suspected that Putin has something over Trump. Nothing else makes sense. I would be very interested to hear what your suspicions are.
Hi Brenda, I think the things putin has on tRUMP to make him bend over and do what he wants are probably:
1) The tapes putin made in Russia with tRUMP and his partners in compromising positions doing compromising things,
2) Of course putin recorded all of the secret conversations that he had with tRUMP, probably about god knows what that is damaging to him and our country and Ukraine,
3) Perhaps putin got some of tRump's blood and/or DNA during his indescritions and/or in other means, showing he is not the "most healthiest president in human history or whoever lived", and if he has neurosyphilis ways it may be progressing.
Certainly for someone who didn't wear a condom with Stormy Daniels probably didn't wear it on many other occasions.
As a product of elite universities myself I do think it is an open question whether they are actually net positive beneficial for society. I am not endorsing Trump's attacks, but the fact that Wall Street seems to be lining up with these institutions does raise the question of role of universities in promoting inequality in America.
Thanks Joe. My book Bankers in the Ivory Tower is all about the role of universities in promoting inequality through their endowments, their ties to private equity, and student loans. I won't stop pushing for reforms to open the doors to elite universities to more students who are excluded. But to build a united front against Trump in the immediate, I want to lift up their vitality for freedom of thought and lifesaving medical research.
Thanks Charlie, very insightful. I hope this and other courageous moves of the last week or so by different organizations and individuals might be a trend. I appreciate the dokumentation. Makes for a touch of optimism.
Thanks, Charlie. Makes me feel more optimistic. It was a huge relief when Garber pushed back. Demo on Cambridge Common on Saturday in the rain calling on Harvard to do so was not confident at all that he would find his spine - and the pessimism came mostly from those who were well aware of Harvard’s corporate entanglements. Very surprised by the lawyers Garber turned to for composing the letter but it reminds me of how Supreme Court briefs are written with an eye to the key justices’ main general concerns. Maybe also a sign of some possible spine in the court as habeas corpus is no small thing either.
Resist what? If Harvard is SO FUCKING GREAT, why does it need to bleed the taxpayer? Do you have any real idea what you're talking about, or is this just TDS on steroids.
Your comment sounds like you´re a SNOB. Sounds like being a SNOB is pretty much at the center of TDS. Sounds like being a SNOB means having some bullshit job that taxpayers have to subsidize. Sounds like a SNOB is getting a little hysterical, at the thought of having to get a real job and do some real work.

What would be your guess?

Thanks Myra. Still lots of uncertainty. Fascinating but also scary to watch and learn from all this.
Thanks Hester! And thanks for your paid subscription. Is there anything you'd like me to dig into more with the newsletter?

Sounds like you went to state school, if you went to college at all
